Beautiful midcentury salt and pepper shakers from Japan! The ceramic shaker is in two pieces - the top piece is the salt shaker; it is shaped like a Pekinese dog. The bottom piece is the pepper shaker, and it is a "cushion" or bed for the Peke. The shakers are stamped "Japan" on the base. We have many salt and pepper sets in the Dog Pound Museum, but this is probably the most unusual.
